Railfanning the Suez 2: Trains, Ships and Sand. |
Description: |
An Egyptian passenger train runs north towards Port Said on the far shore of the Suez Canal's south channel in March 1991. The ship is the SS Louise Lykes, a break-bulk freighter built in New Orleans in 1965. It appears to be unemployed in this shot and was broken up in 1995. This shot was made from the flight deck of the aircraft carrier Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71), which was itself transiting the canal at the time. |
