Mike Kirsch General Love the hornsand the matching hopper car...Nice Shot!!! 2/18/2008 8:34:26 PM
David Abeles General Agreed, not to mention the long ballasted deck timber trestle, and the cool AAR trucks on the GP30, too. Very neat! 2/19/2008 12:27:25 PM
Rick Morgan General The location was dumb luck. We were headed south on US45E when the train showed up. A quick railfan bat-turn and sprint ahead led me to a point where I could shoot it, with these results. 2/19/2008 6:48:59 PM
Joseph Yarbrough General Thanks for posting this image Rick. The train was the 194 Local that went north out of Memphis. 193 worked south to Memphis. I rode these two locals MANY times in the mid-1970's, up until the early 1980's. Of course, the locals were all pulled off never to run again. 2/21/2008 8:34:09 AM
Joseph Yarbrough General I forgot to mention that typical local power was 1 or 2 GP10's, a GP11, or a combination of ex-GM&O GP30/35 and GM&O GP30/35 locomotives during those years. I've even seen a few GP8's assigned. Of course this duty was given to the GP9's and 18's too. 2/21/2008 8:36:16 AM
David Stewart General Just Awesome all the way around! 2/22/2008 11:36:48 AM
Jim Gavin General Perfect shot Rick. 3/10/2008 8:56:32 PM
J. Williams General Nice Shot! 4/4/2008 4:10:30 PM
William H. Davis Jr. General Nice shot 4/23/2008 4:24:23 PM
Atlanta Rails General Fantastic shot, a classic ICG image. There's so much to like about this picture, from the AAR trucked, dual horn, GP30 to the long wooden trestle. I hope though that this line was not abandoned in ICG's attempt to destroy the former GM&O (and much of the old IC as well) 12/10/2008 8:13:08 PM
S.L. Dixon General Geeze Rick...where haven't you been. You have a lot of good shots on this site. 11/27/2009 3:41:29 AM
Christopher Bodkin General Nikos: This is on the former IC Fulton-Birmingham district, that was later sold to NS, and is now operated by WTNN. This line is still very well in use. 7/21/2010 5:42:45 PM
randy james General this line will be very busy soon , when the ns will start running many unit coal trains from coal mines in sw illinois down to corith and then to shefirld to birminham! they have rebuilt all the old wooden trestles with steel ones and have replaced many ties, have put the diamond back in at fulton ky & have reactivated some of the passing siding switches, the na train will "meet" at ramer tn , jackson tn ,(lawrence switch) and possibly at cades(milan tn) supposed to start running july 1st according to a cn employee at fulton! yay!!! 6/29/2011 10:56:22 PM
randy james General train 194? this is the line from fulton ky to jackson tn to corinth ms to birmingham, i don't this train originated in memphis tn, this is a local out of jackson tn or maybe fulton ky, you might be thinking about the ic's line from memphis tn up to covington tn, halls tn, & dyersburg tn 10/21/2011 6:30:16 PM
Joseph Bombaci General Wow! Great picture in the location on the bridge and the matching hopper! 9/21/2017 10:29:15 PM
