| It's 1987 and the CNW line across the Missouri River is being abandoned in favor of the ex-RI "Spine Line". MP has already cut the diamonds out on the curve that the CNW and CGW used to turn trains onto the MOP for the final lap to KC. The other track will still be used by the BN for a few months to serve the last few customers it has in Leavenworth before it too is abandoned. The bridge and tracks will all be gone by Christmas. |
