Two 47-class units lead an empty ballast train 'up' (Eastbound) on the South Main. It's about 7km below the line's summit (2396') at Cullerin and is now doing max track speed of 115KPH (about 70MPH). Both of these Goninan-Cat 47-class units rated at about 1100HP and are actually owned by the Lauchlin Valley Railroad, a preservation group, which leases them to the Southern Shorthaul RR for operation. In this case they're working a push-pull ballast train (two units are at the rear end) for the government-owned track operation.

Geneva Short General Wow...a ballast train at 70 mph. Looks like a bit of a rough ride there in front of him - great picture! 3/24/2012 10:44:43 PM
