| Bedford Indiana is a fascinating town and must've been really something when the Monon, Milwaukee Road and B&O all called here. It's now more of a rail ghost town with parts that seem like they're locked in a time warp. This is the former Milwaukee Road depot on J Street; the tracks came up in 2010 and were last used by INRD. The famed CSX line through downtown and south to Mitchell remains in place for now even if out of service. The city has actually acquired some former INRD industrial trackage to retain the possiblity of eventual return of rail service, although that seems a long shot right now. |
