The former M&StL bridge over the Mississippi River, looking up-stream at Keithsburg IL. The original bridge was opened for the Iowa Central in 1888; it's stone piers are still visable. The later structure opened in 1910 and remained in operation until the line was abandoned by the CNW in 1971. Like most similar structures you really need a boat or airplane to do justice to photographing it- maybe next time! |
