The Caboose at Farber Goes Missing
Title:  The Caboose at Farber Goes Missing
Description:  The small Missouri town of Farber sits on the KCS' former Gateway Western line and used to feature a display of the town's restored depot, GM&O F3A 880B and a former N&W wooden caboose. The F-unit was sold for scrap several years ago and the caboose appears to have followed it, apparantly being removed in 2013. Here's a shot of it in 2011; the original number remains unconfirmed, although when still barely visible on the east cupola side it appeared to be from the N&W 5183xx series.

Title:  BNSF/BN caboose at Stanwood
Description:  BN 12584 sits on a maintenance of way train on a spur at Stanwood WA on a dark Saturday. It's the former BN 12279 (PACAR, 1979). The sticker under the data block says it was refurbished at the Interbay Car Shop.

Four Aces
Title:  Four Aces
Description:  Frisco caboose 1111 on display at Newburg MO. Built by the North East Oklahoma (NEO) RR at Miami OK in 1947, it was one of four (nos. 53-56) that went to the Frisco when it was bought out, being renumbered as 162-164 and 186; and later 1110, 1111, 1157 and 1186. The caboose sits next to the town's museum and it contains quite a bit of material in it as well. Newburg sits on the east end of Dixon Hill, which was the Frisco's harshest grade; the town used to have a large roundhouse and was base for the helpers the road needed to get trains over the hill. Today it's a shell of its former self. Pictures of sisters 1110 (on display at Ft Scott KS) and 1186 (in service) may also be found on RRPR.Net.

Conrail caboose in South Dakota
Title:  Conrail caboose in South Dakota
Description:  CR caboose 23866 sits next to the restored CNW depot in Redfield SD; it's a former New Haven NE-6 class car built in 1947-48. I suspect nobody associated with the NH ever imagined it would end up in the Dakotas.

Louie Caboose; Lu Verne IA
Title:  Louie Caboose; Lu Verne IA
Description:  An M&StL caboose on display in 'downtown' Lu Verne IA. The lettering is not painted but are cut-outs fastened to the side. The railroad had its Albert Lea MN-Ft Dodge line run through town; CNW pulled it up in 1981. The town is still served to some extent by another UP(CNW) route.

BN Caboose 12523
Title:  BN Caboose 12523
Description:  BN caboose 12523 brings up the rear of the Cosgrove Turn as it comes out of the Dyno plant and crosses MO79. The train, out of West Quincy, has work left in Louisiana and Hannibal before returning home. The caboose was delivered by PACAR as FW&D 188 in 1980 and later became BN 11788 before being rebuilt and getting its present number in 1990. I have a shot of it as FWD 188 posted as well; taken only 30 years earlier (!)

Fast Food Caboose
Title:  Fast Food Caboose
Description:  This caboose sits along WA20 just west of Sedro-Woolley; it's a BN/CB&Q original. While one source told me this was former BN 10167, that's not the case as that caboose, former GN, is on display in town about a mile further east.
