Description: |
During the late 1980s and early 1990s the BN had two GP38-2s based at Everett that were configured with special brake systems for use on the Boeing spur located at Mukilteo. 2080 and 2081 pretty much stayed around Everett during that period, working local freights and switching the yard as well as pulling the Boeing local duties. The latter unit is shown here on an April night in the city's Delta Yard. |

The BN took over the Milwaukee Road's Sumas to Lynden branch in 1980 with the rest of the line to Bellingham being abandoned. In its later days, the Milwaukee ran everything from GP9s and SD7s to U36Cs on this route. BN sufficed with whatever was assigned to Sumas as a switcher. Today it's GP38-2 2091, which has completed its morning duties at the border town and is on the old MILW rail as it heads for the Dutch-influenced village of Lynden. |
