Silver Palm |
Description: |
One Amtrak's daily Miami to New York trains, number 90, the Silver Palm, runs north towards Washington DC during the summer of 2000. The train is pulled by a P42/P40 tandem and features nine cars of several different styles, including an Ambox, three Heritage, one Viewliner sleeper and four Amcoaches. Hopefully the people in the convertible are enjoying the view of this typical Amtrak train of the period. |

Auto Train pulling out |
Description: |
It's 4PM and, right on time, Amtrak's Auto Train, no.53, starts to pull the first part of its train out of the Lorton VA facility. The two units will pull forward enough to clear the lead switch, after which the resident Amtrak SW1200 will connect the rear half of the train. The resulting 38 car train will need only two P40s to pull it to Florida; 839 and 833 will do the honors tonight. |
