Title:  Climbing Out of Winton Tunnel
Description:  Three units bring a westbound train out of the 4093' Winton Tunnel in June 1993. The train is about 35 miles out of Wenatchee and will be working on a 1% grade until Meritt, seven miles ahead, where it will steepen to 2.2% for the final seven-mile climb to Cascade Tunnel. GP50s 3114 and 3162 are followed by SD40-2 6813.

Back into the sunlight
Title:  Back into the sunlight
Description:  BN's Cascade Tunnel is over seven miles long and remains the logest railroad tunnel in the US. White-faced GP50 3154 leads B30-7AB 4047 and a train out of the west portal in October 1992. Note the notches cut in the corners of the tunnel mouth, which, along with lowering the floor, was an early '90s project to allow larger cars safely through the bore.
