Climbing Towards Wengen  Contributor's Pick!
A Wengernalp Bahn (WAB) rack train climbs the hill into Wengen having come up from Lauterbrunnen. The WAB opened in the 1890s and operates 19KM (12MI) of 2'7.5" narrow gauge track up to, and past, Kleine Scheidegg at the base of the Eiger. Although a major tourist attraction, the railroad is also a lifeline to Wengen, which limits auto traffic. Jungfrau Mountain sits majestically in the background.
