Holcim Switcher Awaiting its Fate |
Description: |
The Holcim Company closed its Clarksville MO plant (at a siding called Dundee for years by the railroad, based on the original cement company's name-even if the town with that place name is south of the Missouri River in Franklin County). The plant had at least three switchers; an SW1, GNAX1, is now in Colorado and a centercab GE seems to be missing. The newer EMD switcher still sits in the plant awaiting its fate with no number or reporting marks visible. It's supposed to be the former Waterloo RR no2, an SW900 buillt in 1957 that reportedly arrived here in 1983. It's received a new prime mover along the way- presumably a Cummins of some variety. |

Respondek SW900 14 |
Description: |
Although it says SW9 on the cab, Respondek 14 is an SW900, as the single stack denotes. The frame number stamped in the front right corner confirms it as a CNW original. |

For years the diesel backbone of the road's roster was a group of twelve SW900RSs. 907 (A1478, 3/58) shows the options orded by the road for the series; MU with drop steps, Flexicoil trucks an impressive horn array and dual-stack spark arrestors. |
